This Week at Twin Cities - June 24, 2010

Hey everybody, Passionately Loving God, Loving People, Serving Others and Reaching Our World is what we’re all about. For 18 years now we’ve unapologetically said, “Twin Cities is here to help people connect to Jesus Christ and His Church and fulfill His mission.” We believe that God’s church is here to be part of His global plan to reach the world for Jesus Christ.

As I walked and rode around Israel a few weeks ago, I was struck by this: As long as God’s people kept their focus on Him and lived His way, God blessed them. Any time they took matters into their own hands and switched the focus on their own needs or comfort and began to call their own shots, He took off His hand of blessing. This was a huge word of warning to me.

We must keep our eyes focused on the people who still need to connect with Jesus. Our goal has always been for every man, woman and child in Western Nevada County to hear a well articulated presentation of Jesus Christ and get the opportunity to accept Him or not. Folks, the fields around us are ready for harvest. We’ve had more people baptized in the first six months than any year in our existence. I pray you will join me in doing all you can so that everyone can hear.

This Sunday we wrap up our “Relational Intelligence” series. Jesus said, “They will know Me by the love you have for one another.” This is why this series has been so important, not just for our relationships, but for the sake of the eternal destination of many who live around us. I hope to see you Sunday.

This Week at Twin Cities - June 17, 2010

Hey everybody, It’s time for summer vacations. As you know Kimberly and I are on a trip of a lifetime to the Holy Land. I ask you to pray for us and the rest of our TCC family who are with us, that we will have a supernatural encounter as we visit the same places Jesus did 2000 years ago. Wow! I can’t wait to share with you the wonderful experiences we get to have together.

As we enter into vacation time, I know it’s a time for family, fun, time on the lake, camping in the Sierra, and vacations. It’s also a time of strategic ministry in the life of our church. I want to ask you to remember your giving to God during the summer months. Our expenses can often times be highest in the summer, while giving can be the lowest. I am asking God that our giving would surpass our expenses this summer. That has not happened all year. Imagine how encouraging it would be to celebrate together God’s faithfulness.

Will you pray about our giving with me? Our finances have been a major concern and stress on my heart for some time. I appreciate our Finance Team, and their guidance so much. Just like some of you, our church has never been in a negative cash flow before. The only way to ride out this storm is for us to spend less and give more. Our staff is doing all it can to spend the minimum. We need our church family to do all it can to give the maximum.

Will you pray about this with me? We want to be poised in the fall to reach out to our community and world in even greater ways. But that will require us to have the staff, resources, and faithful volunteers to do so.

This Week at Twin Cities - June 10, 2010

Hey everybody, school’s out for summer! I know that song has been running through many homes this week. Summer can be fun, exciting and even more relaxed, but it can also be draining, dull and full of stress. Most parents get to maintain their normal work schedules while also trying to solve this two-word problem: “I’m bored.” We’ve already heard it at our house.

I want to suggest some ways you can help your kids fill their time with good fun while also providing opportunities for spiritual growth. First, Saddle Ridge Ranch begins June 14 for kids three years through completed fourth grade. This is our onsite day camp. Pastor Bobby and his team are preparing to help your kids grow closer to God and each other. Second, DIVE is the theme for our kid’s camp out at Lake Francis, July 6 - 9. Our Children’s Ministry Team is ready to take your kids deeper with God and each other and have a whole barrel of fun.

If you have Junior High or High School kids, Pastor Mark, Pastor Rick and the whole Student Ministry Team are gearing up for two great camps. Junior High will be going Extreme together, July 18 - 23, at Sugar Pine Camp near Sonora. We’re also hosting our own Senior High Camp right here at our church. Both camps will help your students grow closer to God and each other.

Parents, you can check out one of our Summer Small Groups for your spiritual development and great connection with others. Stop by our Small Groups table on Sunday for a listing of summer groups. I want to suggest that you make church attendance a priority this summer. We plan, program and provide the same quality that you experience the rest of the year. On July 4, we’ll begin a new series on authentic faith as we study the New Testament book of James.

Enjoying summer with you,

Pastor Ron

This Week at Twin Cities - June 3, 2010

Hey everybody, My kids are finishing up another school year this week. This has been a season of growth, adjustment and new horizons for our family. I look forward to the summer months to process and reflect together on how things have gone and talk about changes we might make for next year.

Our church is also coming to the end of another strong ministry season in which we’ve experienced growth, adjustment and new horizons. We’ve seen growth. It’s not the kind of growth we’ve experienced in the past where we saw our attendance grow rapidly. In fact, we’ve had a slight decrease in attendance in the past few months. This has caused us to stop and ask hard questions, which I believe will lead to more sustainable growth in the future.

We’ve also been through adjustments. While we celebrate Pastor David’s new calling in Fresno, his departure has left a hole in our organization and church. He was a very diligent and gifted worker, and therefore his absence has created a significant vacuum. I am grateful to our staff and volunteer leaders who have stepped in to fill the gap as we have adjusted to a new normal.

We’re also peering into some new horizons. God is helping us see His huge compassionate heart for the lost and hurting. For 18 years now we’ve been focused on reaching people for Jesus and passionately pursuing Him together so we can continue reaching people for Jesus. We strongly believe God is calling us to stay focused on that vision in the future because that’s who He has called us to be, and He’s always blessed that vision. The new horizons before us rise from efforts of our Community Impact Team helping us meet the needs of people both locally and globally. It’s going to be awesome to walk with Him as we discover the new ways He wants us live out His mission.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Ron
