Hey everybody, Friend Day is this Sunday. We will put our best foot forward this weekend as we welcome your friends and our community to the beginning of a new message series. The main idea of “The Real You” series is that I can only be the real me when I know the real God who made me. If you’ve been to Journey 101, you’ve heard me say, “God made me to love me.” This is going to be a life-changing series as we embrace and celebrate who God made us to be.
I am praying for your initiative and courage as you invite your friends.
I want to devote the rest of this space to tell you about my current health status. This summer, Kimberly and I began the process of determining if I needed to be treated for my Hepatitis C now or if I could wait for future treatments. Two weeks ago we received the results back from blood tests, a liver biopsy, and an MRI. The determination by my doctor, and we concurred, is that I could not wait and should do all I can now to rid my body of this virus.
Sunday evening, October 23, I began treatment. This includes a weekly injection of Interferon and daily doses of Ribaviran for the first four weeks. If all goes well, I will then add daily doses of Telepriver to the regimen. The treatment is scheduled for 24 weeks. When I looked at the calendar I was excited to see that I would take my last shot on Easter Sunday!
The side-effects of treatment can be fatigue, flu-like symptoms, depression, anxiety, nausea, sleep disruption and some hair loss. We are asking God to take these side-effects away and use these medications as part of His plan to heal my liver.
Kim was also diagnosed with Lyme’s disease last week so we have begun treatment for her as well. Please pray for God to heal her completely.
I am so grateful to belong to such a loving and faith-filled church.

This Week @ Twin Cities Church!
Hey everybody. We’re gearing up for our October REACH month. God has put us here and given us this property and facility to be used by Him, and the upcoming opportunities are designed to allow us to serve our community, communicate God’s message, and show people His love. We are praying big time that God will use us as we get outside of ourselves as we provide an opportunity for others to take positive steps toward a life-changing relationship with Jesus.
The three opportunities are:
- Operation Christmas Child. This has been one of our most heartfelt giving experiences as we bring one or more shoeboxes filled with gifts to send around the world to kids who would never receive a gift at Christmas time. Make sure to be here Sunday to get your boxes and instructions.
- Fall Friend Day on October 30. We will roll out our red carpet so that your friends have the best experience we can offer and connect with God’s love for them. We all know people who don’t go to church. Surveys show that they will come “if someone would just ask.” Be bold and ask.
- Fall Family Festival on October 31. We will serve our community a safe, free, and fun Halloween alternative. In order for us to provide the kind of excellent experience that will attract people and create goodwill, we need everyone to help.
I am praying now that God will use us to expand His kingdom and His influence this Fall. Will you pray with me and join us by serving?
Sunday, we wrap up our series on the Seven Deadly Sins by looking at Laziness. I hope I can muster up the energy to write my message. See you then.
Kimberly and I want to thank you for the awesome expressions of love, support and encouragement you showed us last Sunday as we celebrated 20 years of service to Twin Cities Church. You are amazing! If you missed it, watch online to hear “Do Do Ron Ron” by Denny Russell and our CA team.

This Week @ Twin Cities Church - Monthly Food Drive!
Hey everybody. October is REACH month. We have three great opportunities that will help us get outside of ourselves and provide an opportunity for others to take positive steps toward a life-changing relationship with Jesus.
Operation Christmas Child is back. This has been one of our most heartfelt giving experiences as we bring one or more shoeboxes filled with gifts to send around the world to kids who would never receive a gift at Christmastime. The awesome thing about this is that they know it came from a person who loves Jesus, and they get to see that Jesus loves them through us. Make sure to be here Sunday to get your boxes and instructions.
October 30th is our Fall Friend Day. Our church was built on the courage of ordinary people inviting their unchurched friends. When we were smaller, we would tease each other, “Show us that you have friends. Bring them.” On Friend Day, we will roll out our red carpet so that your friends have the best experience we can offer and connect with God’s love for them. We all know people who don’t go to church. Surveys show that they will come “if someone would just ask.” Be bold and ask.
Fall Family Festival is our biggest community outreach of the year. Last year 3500 people came onto our campus for a safe, free, and fun Halloween alternative. In order for us to provide the kind of excellent experience that will attract people and create goodwill, we need everyone to help. Currently we still need more volunteers before, after, and during the event, more game booths, and more candy. We give away about one ton of candy, and right now we’re light on candy. You can bring it any day to our office or on Sunday.
I am praying now that God will use us to expand His kingdom and His influence this Fall. Will you pray with me?
Sunday, we continue our series on the Seven Deadly Sins by looking at Gluttony. I’m eating my share of donuts before Sunday. See you then.

This Week @ Twin Cities Church!
Hey everybody. You fill me up. Yes, that’s right. Your teachable hearts fill me up. I have been so thrilled by the response to this series as we’ve been able to see how each one of us struggles with each of the sins. Not one of us has been left out or untouched by God’s probing Spirit. The first step to breaking free from the grip of deadly desire has been the same each week. Freedom begins with an acceptance, admission or acknowledgement that comes from transparency before God.
This weekend we’re going to talk about LUST. I want to encourage everyone of you to be here this weekend. You may not believe you struggle with lust. I would like to believe that is true, but I know what reality is.
This weekend is not about pointing fingers or piling on guilt. It’s about becoming free. Really free. That’s why we’ve included Communion as part of our experience together so that we can clearly understand and accept the freedom Jesus offers. He wants you to be free from the guilt and pain lust produces.
Fall Family Festival preparation is kicking off in a huge way. In fact, you can go online and sign up to serve. FFF is a huge event that draws people from all over Western Nevada County, and we need all of our family to be involved. This event helps people see church as there for them instead of here to take from them.
