Hey everybody, If you were in our 11:15 service last Sunday, you were part of a divine moment. A baby cried. Not just any cry, but a loud “I just woke up, and I’m not happy” cry. It came just as we were about to eat the bread and drink the juice during communion. The mom was cognizant of the moment and quickly gathered her crying baby and headed to the lobby.
God reminded me of something He has been doing in me. He’s been asking me to look at people, not as they are now, but as they were when they were babies. Babies are beautiful, cute, and innocent. I mentioned that and that there were those in the room who were struggling and wondering if God could really love them the way I had talked about from John 3:16. And I reminded them that Jesus had made it possible, through the cross, to be born again – to have their innocence restored.
I received this email later: “I wanted you to know of the God moment I experienced today in the 11:15 service. As I sat there, I decided to ask God in my head for direction. I didn't have the right words, but I simply asked, "What do I do? What do I do?" Not one minute later you spoke up about being moved by the innocence of the baby's cry in the congregation. How you were sad for people who had been wronged and had their innocence taken away at a young age. That God makes us clean again so that we can be like that baby. I swear at that very moment God was talking directly at me through you! I instantly knew it was God saying that He loves me. Thanks for being moved by the Holy Spirit enough to speak those words aloud. God has truly given me great miracles, but the most life transforming: being forgiven and learning to forgive. It has been a hard pill for me to swallow, but God is good and gracious!”
Isn't God great? He may have just pinched that baby so this person could experience His love. You never know what’s going to happen on Sunday! Make sure to be here.

This Week at Twin Cities - May 20, 2010
Hey everybody, Sunday is one of those special days in the life of our church family. First, we get to celebrate Communion together. Our series on Relational Intelligence continues with the most important message in the entire series: “Learn To Be Loved By God.” Folks, this is the core. Knowing and experiencing God’s love is the key to all other relationships in life. God’s love motivates us positively in all we do. Yet so many people wonder, “Does God really love me?” O, they don’t “feel God’s love.”
Make sure to be here on Sunday as we talk about how we can be 100% certain of His love.
Second, we’re going to honor our Small Group leaders this Sunday. This Spring we have 964 people involved in Twin Cities Small Groups. Research shows that the key to the success of a Small Group is the quality of the leader. Here at Twin Cities, we have been blessed with an overflow of amazing Small Group leaders who care deeply about the people God is allowing them the privilege to shepherd. We want every Small Group member to be here Sunday so we can encourage these leaders who make our Small Groups work. We’ll give them a big “Way to Go!!” in each service.
Last week we announced the start of the construction work to deal specifically with the parking and traffic flow issues we’ve faced since moving into our facility in 2005. If you weren’t here, make sure to pick up one of the inserts we provided last week during our services. We have also put the information on our website so you can see it there.
I can’t wait for Sunday,
Pastor Ron

This Week at Twin Cities - May 13, 2010
Hey everybody, I have a couple of important pieces of news to share today. First, this weekend is the Amgen Tour Of California. Imagine the exposure our community will receive this weekend. The news you’ll want to be aware of is this: The race may impact your travel to and from church on Sunday.
We have received the schedule and street closures for Sunday, and here’s what it looks like for now. The race will kick off around 11:45 in Nevada City. The racers will travel down Ridge Road to Alta Street in Grass Valley. At Alta, they will make their way downtown where they will take 174 to Rattlesnake Road and travel down Rattlesnake to Dog Bar Road and out of our area.
It looks like the race will not impact our services. My suggestion, though, is for 3rd service folks to be on time or even a few minutes early. Roads will not be closed until the racers are making their approach. It will all happen during the 3rd service and be out of our area by the time the service is over.
The second piece of news has to do with some construction work to be done on our site. Beginning May 17, we’re adding a third entrance off of Rough and Ready Highway and making some alterations to our onsite traffic flow. The possibility of doing this construction has been in the works for quite some time, but last week the window was opened wide. I’ll talk about how exciting this is on Sunday morning.
On Sunday, we’ll continue our series on “Relational Intelligence.” I can’t wait to share some teaching I’ve learned in the past year on how to handle the normal expectation gaps we experience as we relate to others.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Ron

This Week at Twin Cities - May 6, 2010
Hey everybody, I want to invite you to come pray with me and many other Followers of Jesus from our community TODAY, May 6. We’re gathering at 7:00PM over at First Baptist Church on Ridge Road for our local expression of the 2010 National Day of Prayer. People all over our nation will come together in unity to pray for our nation. I hope you will join me and pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
If you can’t make it, remember there is a group of people from our church who pray every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00PM here at our church. Come join them!
This Sunday is Mother’s Day. I am privileged to have a Godly mother whom I get to celebrate this weekend. I often tell people that my mom literally carried me – not just in the womb – for the years I was living in rebellion and making terrible choices. Do you know how she did it? She was a woman of prayer. As far back as I can remember, my mom prayed for me. I know because I watched her. Later as I was out on my own, she knew that only by God’s hand would I make it through that time. So, she prayed me through it.
I am now privileged to have a wife, Kimberly, with the same passion for prayer. She has taught me and our kids that our first response to difficulty is to begin talking to God. I love how my kids have caught her passion for prayer. I hope you’ll come on Sunday as Kimberly gets to speak on lessons she learned through studying the life of Hannah, another prayer warrior mom found in the Old Testament.
