Hey Everyone,
Summer is officially upon us, and I am eager to spend time with family and friends in experiencing God’s goodness. I want to encourage you to be at church as often as you can this summer unless you’re out of town. You may not realize this but our church needs you in your seat fully engaged to encourage the rest of us who are here, and you need what we do here each week to help you keep your passion for God burning hot. I also want to suggest that you find a church when you’re traveling and attend because you will add life and spirit to that church. You just never know what God has planned for you. I recently received a clear word from God in a church I attended while on vacation.
We’re beginning our summer series this week called “Lift.” Each week we’ll be looking at a particular Psalm from the Old Testament as we ask God to help us look up for perspective. I don’t know about you, but I can often times get all wadded up with anxiety when I face difficulties that seem out of my control. That happens especially when I’ve been believing that I am the solution to my problems. The solution is to take my eyes off my problems and my lack of strength or resources to solve them and lift my eyes to the One who can.
Whenever you read the Psalms, you often times read words of anguish, despair, depression and confusion. Then there seems to be a switch – almost as if someone else had taken up the pen – and you read words of hope, faith, trust, joy and peace. The key is that the author has lifted his eyes to Heaven and remembered that God is always for us. I know this series will speak to you at a deep level.
This will be my last email blast until mid-August. Enjoy your summer!
Lifting my eyes to the God of Heaven with you,
Pastor Ron
