Hey everybody,
Loving God. Loving People. Linking Arms. Living the Mission. These four statements identify who we continue to strive to be as a church. These four statements of purpose unify us, strengthen us, motivate us and inspire us to work together to fulfill God’s call on our church and on us as individual parts of this specific church called Twin Cities.
In the past several years, we have taken the Loving People part very seriously. We have not and by God’s grace will never lose touch with the Loving God part, because without His love filling our every thought and action, we’ll not be all He desires. Folks, we must love people, and we must do it together. We must let that be our driving mission.
This Sunday we get to tackle one of the most eye-opening, spine-straightening, courage-testing, compassion-inspiring set of verses from James. Go ahead and open your Bible and read it now. James 2:1-13.
These verses define who Jesus has called us to be. I believe these verses describe who we are seeking to become. They describe what sets us apart and makes us unique. We do not exist just for members only. This is not a place where you must look a certain way in order to fit in and be included.
This is why we are continually prodded and poked to think outside of our own needs and wants. This is why we strategically serve with our Community Partners right here in Western Nevada County. This is why we strategically partner with Pastor Robert and El Shaddai World Ministries in Uganda. This is why we are continually encouraged to engage in serving others in some way each year. This is why we’ll be retooling our Small Groups to be Community Groups in the Fall.
It’s all about being on mission with God. I look forward to hearing how the words written by James impact our lives this Sunday.
Pastor Ron
