This Week at Twin Cities Church

Hey, Fellow Dreamers,

After all the years of pulling into the parking lot above Vikingsholm Castle overlooking Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe, Kimberly and I finally decided to take the hike down to the bottom. It was a blustery, cold day as we loaded up with energy bars, water, and our camera. The first thing we came across was the information sign letting us know the history of Vikingsholm.

Here’s how the sign read: Vikingsholm, a dream come true. Henry David Thoreau once said, “It is good to build castles in the air. Now, you must put foundations under them.” It went on to describe how Lora Knight made her dream a reality as she built what has become a tourist attraction in our day.

As we got in our car after the hike down and back, I thought, “That’s the power of a dream.” Yet I believe God wants us to dream bigger than elaborate vacation homes. This week at Twin Cities we’re going to talk about recalibrating our dreams. God calls us to dream. He calls us to build upon the rock of His Word and not the air of unsustainable promises.

In our daily Bible reading on Wednesday we read these words which I’ll end with because they are part of God’s desire for us. “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand.”

I have a dream: I dream each of us will embrace the promise of God’s enduring love as spoken through the words of the Psalmist. When we do that it will recalibrate our dreams and put solid foundations under them. When we do that, we will end up loving God and people because that’s His dream for us.

Dreaming with you,

Pastor Ron

This Week at Twin Cities Church

Hey Gang, we began our new “Recalibrate” series on Sunday. As inspirational as “Hope Rising” was to help us place our confidence fully in God during tough times, “Recalibrate” is going to be practical. If “everything really is different now” as Tom Peters was quoted as saying, then we had better make sure to build on wisdom that has endured through the ages. If you were not here last Sunday, please watch the service online before this Sunday so you can be in tune with what happened.

This week we’re going to look at how to recalibrate our passion. Many people feel as if they’ve had the wind knocked out of them – economically, relationally and spiritually, and this day will help “revive” our souls.

Prayer is the greatest way we can keep our passion fires burning. In fact, prayer is the vital connection we are allowed to experience with God. He gave us prayer as a way of communicating with Him. Prayer changes us and our circumstances. We began our “Hope Rising” series and our 18th year as a church by coming before God as a church family for 24 hours. The spiritual fire in our church since then has been burning strong.

I’m not the only one who sees the correlation between what God is doing now and our 24 hour prayer encounter. I received this email from one of our single moms last week. She said, “Praise God!! I have been praying passionately that God would call at least 100 people during “Hope Rising.” I let out a cheer to see the final number of 113 lives given to Christ. I believe this has a direct connection to 24 Hours of Prayer.” I agree with her passionately!

I hope you’ll begin praying for even more of God’s Spirit to flow into our experience as a church family.

Praying with you,

Pastor Ron

This Week at Twin Cities Church

Woo Hoo! Easter was so amazing! I want to thank you for inviting your family and friends to be with you and experience the Resurrection Factor. Overall we had 500 more people than last Easter and 26 people chose Jesus Christ as the forgiver, deliverer and leader of their lives. Folks, that makes 113 people who have nailed down their eternal destiny in the past 7 weeks. I am in awe of God’s work.

I want to mention three important items as we move toward Sunday. One, our 2010 Plan: 24 Months of Love is now in its fifth month. What are you doing to grow in your love for God and people? As part of the 2010 Plan our staff served together this Wednesday morning at three of the organizations we partner with here in Western Nevada County. What a great experience we had serving together.

Two, our 2010 Plan also has an element where we’re asking every member and attender to take the plunge and join a Small Group. Well, this Sunday is Small Group Launch Sunday. David Carothers will present the Spring Small Groups Booklet and encourage folks to join a group this next week. I hope you’ll take advantage of this.

Three, we begin our new “Recalibrate” series on Sunday. As inspirational as “Hope Rising” was to help us place our confidence fully in God during tough times, “Recalibrate” will be practical. If “everything really is different now” as Tom Peters was quoted as saying, then we had better make sure to build on wisdom that has endured through the ages. We’ll look at the Bible to discover how God says we are to live. I am so excited about this new series and the ability it has to give us new hope for the future.

Recalibrating my life with you,

Pastor Ron
