Hey Everyone,
I am praying for you today. My prayer is that you would experience Jesus more and more in your life. Last summer I picked up a book called “The Jesus Life” that gave me a way to look at the work God wants to do in me in a whole new way. The premise is this: We can become more like Jesus as we do the things Jesus did.
I know that sounds pretty simple and even a little elementary. For others it may seem vaguely like the dogmatic religion you’ve tried to leave behind. You know the kind where everyone was measured by external markers instead of by the condition of the heart.
Our “Like Jesus” series is designed to help us realize that part of the reason Jesus impacted His world in such a dynamic way is that He was connected to His heavenly Father. He did things – we call them spiritual disciplines – that will over time draw us closer to God and help us be more like Jesus over time.
I know we will never be “like” Jesus in every way, but we can be “like” Him in more ways than we are today. It’s called transformation. God loves us just like we are, but He also loves us too much to let us stay that way.
I hope you will come Sunday as we continue to unpack the life Jesus lived and show how our own engagement in the practices He observed regularly as part of His everyday life will help us be like Him.
If you missed last Sunday you will want to watch it before you come. We learned how the right attitude is essential in both liking Jesus and becoming like Him. We will also kick off our Winter Community Groups this week. If you’re not in a group yet or want to check out another group, just stop by the Groups table on Sunday for information on groups that have space for new folks.
Seeking transformation with you,
Pastor Ron
