Sixteen people are ready to be baptized this Sunday! Each person baptized is “going public for Jesus” as they declare their faith for all to see. Our faith in Jesus was never meant to be a personal, private relationship – even though it is deeply personal and private – and baptism is the way the New Testament tells us to let people know we are now a follower of Jesus. I am so proud of the bold stand these folks will take.
Baptism is one of the key markers in a person’s walk. It’s also proof that a church is fully engaged and committed to the mission Jesus gave when He said, “Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” One of our core values as a church is that “We Love The Unchurched” and therefore, we will do all we can to help people see who Jesus is and know why He came.
As we celebrate on Sunday, we get to see lives that are being changed, and I can’t think of any other purpose that is so fulfilling. I am eager to cheer them on and celebrate their commitment to live for Jesus.
Will you begin praying now asking God who He wants you to invite for Friend Day on October 14? People say that they would attend church if someone would just ask them. Will you ask God for the courage and freedom to ask people to come with you that day? Let them know which service you will be attending and offer to meet them in the lobby and sit with them through the service. I guarantee you that you will look at our services differently when you sit next to a friend you’ve invited.
This Sunday, we will be doing a spiritual heart check as we continue our “Life Apps” series.
Seeking to apply God's Word in my life,
Pastor Ron
