This Week at Twin Cities - February 24, 2011

Hey everybody, I like a variety of weather and really love storms, but storms can cause havoc and create questions. I want to answer one question you might have. We will always have services at TCC. The only way we would ever cancel church is if the roads were closed, and we were prohibited from making our way to church. That puts the responsibility in your court. If you feel it’s safe, then come because we’ll be here waiting for you. If you don’t feel safe, then do what you think is best. This way you don’t have to worry about listening to the radio or wondering if we’re having church. We are. Hope to see you Sunday.

Last Sunday, we talked about the mission of the church in our world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your encouraging and passionate responses to what you heard. I am so grateful to be part of a church where the people are more concerned for their unchurched friends than they are for their own needs. That says volumes about you, and I believe it brings a warm smile to our Father’s heart. He gave His Son for people, and I believe He expects us to give up our own comfort for His heart’s desire to draw people into relationship with Him.

Those of you who have taken the Jabez Prayer Challenge received an email this week inviting you to a social network site we’re offering called “the Table.” I hope you’ll follow the instructions and begin sharing what God is doing in your life through this prayer. If you would like to know more about the Jabez Prayer Challenge watch the service called “Radical Prayer” from January 30. After you watch that message, just email patrick@twincitieschurch.com and tell him that you are signing up to pray. He will send you the information you need to get on “the Table” and start recording your journey with others.

Praying the prayer of Jabez with you,

Pastor Ron

This Week at Twin Cities - February 17, 2011

Hey everybody, Last Saturday’s ReThink Leadership was so inspirational! I was glad to have so many of you come out and get super motivated about the truth that with God all things are possible. I am very encouraged about the core that was represented on Saturday. We learned why we do Community Groups and how God wants to use us for His Kingdom’s work and His glory.

If you missed Saturday, and I understand how schedules are, you have a couple of options. If you want to watch the video by Andy Stanley which set the tone for the morning, contact Connie Maier at our office. You can watch my follow-up talk online. It’s a great one-two punch. I can’t stress this highly enough. These two talks will help us all get in on what God is calling us to do for Him.

On top of watching these, you’ll want to be in church Sunday as I talk about Radical Church. I am thrilled about how God has been moving in our staff teams this year as we’ve been listening to God about what He wants us to be as a church. Sunday is going to be a fun and informative day that you will want to be present to experience.

Two other things are happening Sunday. One, we will be receiving our quarterly Benevolence offering after each service. If God has laid it on your heart to help those who need a financial bridge or boost, come prepared to give. Second, we will also have a Uganda share time after 3rd service. Kim Thompson and Janene Bello will talk to us about their experience in Uganda. We’ll also hear from Pastor John about our ongoing relationship with Pastor Robert and the El-Shaddai World Ministries.

Make sure to pray each day – God, show me, use me, fill me, and guard me.

Seeking His face with you,

Pastor Ron

This Week at Twin Cities - February 10, 2011

Hey everybody, Saturday’s ReThink Leadership is one of those events you won’t want to miss! It’s a chance to be inspired and informed about what God is doing through Twin Cities Church. Please call Nancy today and sign up. It’s for everyone who wants to grow.

I’ve been receiving emails this week from people who have taken the Jabez Prayer Challenge about how God is using the prayer. The most common response so far has been the closeness and intimacy that folks are feeling with God.

On Sunday, I told you one way I pray this prayer. I begin by talking to God about His blessings in my life and seeing life from His perspective. God blesses us each day, but we often have to look for His work. I ask Him, “Show me.” Then I talk to Him about how I want to be an influence for Him. I want to live for more than just the moment. I want to see new opportunities to influence my world for Him. I ask Him, “Use me.”

The next part of the prayer is where I admit my need for Him to work in my life. I let Him know that I can’t do what I know He’s asked of me without Him. I readily admit that I am toast without His power and presence. I pray, “Fill me.” Then I come to that last part of the prayer where I remember that this is a spiritual deal and battle that we’re in. I know that I am not strong enough to withstand every fiery dart from the evil one. I need His protection. So, I pray, “Guard me.”

I end the entire prayer with a special request that all I do would bring glory and honor to His name and that people would see Jesus because of my life’s purpose.

On the Jabez Challenge with you,

Pastor Ron

This Week at Twin Cities - February 3, 2011

Hey everybody, Last Sunday was pretty amazing. First, I want to thank our Celebration Arts Team for their continued labor to help us connect with God through the arts. The new song we learned on Sunday about Jesus being our only hope of rescue, combined with the feature song about refusing to stay silent concerning bringing our world to God in prayer, was amazingly moving to me. I love our church, and I’m so grateful for how we stay unified, even with all our differing tastes and preferences.

What was even more amazing to me about Sunday was your response to the message about becoming Radical Prayers. One person emailed me and said that it was one of the top messages ever for our church, and her family has been part of us for over 17 years now. So, make sure to watch or listen today.

We made a covenant together on Sunday that we would pray the Prayer of Jabez together for the next year – 365 days – asking God for His perspective, provision, presence/power, and protection for our lives, families and church. I was able to simplify the prayer to these 8 words: SHOW ME, USE ME, FILL ME, and GUARD ME.

Make sure to let me know how this prayer is impacting you so I can pass your stories on. I already heard from several people who told me that the purity section of Sunday’s service was so freeing.

Lastly, ReThink Leadership is one of those events you won’t want to miss! It’s a chance to be inspired and informed about what God is doing through Twin Cities Church. In order to make it easier for our young families to attend, we have expanded our childcare options. Make sure to sign up now.

Praying each day, God, show me, use me, fill me, and guard me for Your glory!

Pastor Ron
