This Week at Twin Cities - October 7, 2010

Hey everybody, Friday night I had the awesome privilege of attending the Celebration Arts Bash. This is a time when those who plan our services and artistic efforts celebrate their victories together. Our church began with a passion to allow artists a place to use their talents and skills for the Kingdom of God. We believe art expresses our deepest and often unexpressed emotions, pains and dreams. I really appreciate Dave Bollen and our CA Teams who serve us with such passion and excellence.

Dave asked me to speak a few words of encouragement during the Bash, and I chose to remind our artists of their purpose. 1 Timothy 1:17 says, “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” This verse shows the tension we have in creating moments that represent a transcendent God in a way that all people can understand.

I reminded them that our artists have the task of creating moments for everyone to connect with God – to have our hearts opened, our barriers removed and our spirits engaged. Second, our artists have the assignment to help us see God in all of His glory – to be undone by Him. Third, our artists have the responsibility to communicate in such a way that anyone can comprehend God’s greatness no matter their background. I told them that as we all grow in our heart for God we also have to make sure we remember those who are checking Him out to see if He and His church are real.

If we’re going to be true to God’s vision for us to be relevant and real in communicating Him clearly to our world, we have to remember that it’s not all about our needs. I love our Celebration Arts Teams. Make sure to encourage them as they lead us to experience God’s fullness together.

See you Sunday as we talk about becoming generous people.

Pastor Ron
