This Week at Twin Cities - October 8, 2009

Hey Gang,

I am wonderfully thrilled at what God is doing in the life of our church, and that begins with me, through 40 Days of Love. Thank you for allowing this spiritual emphasis to work in you. I know you have a choice as to your level of participation. I also know that your level of participation will directly impact the heart transformation that takes place. Here’s a comment I received this week: “40 Days of Love has been harder than I imagined. Thank you for challenging us to grow and change.”

Now that we’re finished with the global emphasis, Uganda Christmas Child, we’re ready to begin praying about our participation in the Limit Consumption Challenge, October 18 -25.

The purpose of the Limit Consumption Challenge is to help us begin learning to identify with those in our world who have very little, and at the same time provide resources for those in our local area who are in great need. Much of the world exists on beans or rice, lives without clean drinking water, and survives without modern conveniences. Our dream is that as we limit our consumption of these things our hearts will be enlarged. At the end of that week, we’ll bring what we saved by not eating as we normally do, by drinking tap water, and by curtailing our usage of our modern conveniences in order to bless those who live that way all the time.

I am so excited about the potential for us to have our perspectives widened. We’ll have an insert available the next two weekends that will help us all think outside the box on this. Of course, this is strictly voluntary, and you have to take into consideration your own health needs, but I’m asking you to join in with an open heart.
