Hey Gang,
“The church is the hope of the world when it’s working right. Unfortunately it often doesn’t.” I heard that quote last May, and it really ignited passion inside of me. Our church began 18 years ago with the vision of building a church that worked right – a church where vision, mission and values came before preferences, power-struggles, and petty pursuits. We knew that many people were more concerned with preserving tradition than they were in fulfilling Jesus’ commands found in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and the Great Commandment (Mark 12:29-31), and that bothered us.
Our “Mind the Gap” series has been a great time to ask how we’re doing as we’ve listened to the words of Jesus to His church. We’ve always dreamed of being a healthy church; therefore, it’s important that we pay attention to His words of encouragement, correction and challenge. We need to ask, “What would Jesus say if He were writing a letter to us?” On Sunday we’ll talk about that topic. Based upon the first four chapters of Revelation and Jesus’ words to these churches in Asia, we can discover the message Jesus might deliver to Twin Cities Church.
We want to listen closely to make sure we’re still working with purpose and passion. We want to make sure that we’re working in the power and presence of Jesus. I would never want to do all that we’ve done and discover that we had failed to listen to Jesus. He says many times in these verses, “He who has an ear, let Him hear.”
I am listening. Are you? Make sure to be here this weekend and listen so that our good intentions lead to more than busy lives. We want our good intentions to lead to impactful lives. We want to be actively participating in Jesus’ purpose and calling.
Pastor Ron
